The smartphone market is a highly competitive space, with the new Google smartphone models all vying for attention. However, the vast majority of smartphones sold in the developed world are based on the Windows operating system. The problem is that this platform doesn’t have anywhere near the reach that Apple’s iPhone and Android devices have, and so many consumers are stuck using iPhones and Android devices instead of the cutting edge smartphones on offer from Google. But the company has recently launched a second smartphone, the OnePlus Nord, which is based on the Android operating system, and thus hopes to bypass the iPhone and Android platforms and directly enter the big smartphone market.

In terms of hardware, the company is using a variant of the same technology engine that powers the One smartphone. The only difference is that the platform will use a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED screen, instead of the customary 6.2 inch Super AMOLED screen found on the iPhone and Android devices. The lack of an AMOLED screen, however, does not mean that the company’s offering will have lower resolution. In fact, the most likely scenario is that the resolution will be higher – perhaps up to 1080p.

The one big feature that the company says it is planning for its future smartphones is the addition of a fingerprint scanner. The one notable absence from the current lineup is a fingerprint scanner, so the company will be offering this as an option on one of its new handsets. When pressed about whether it expects the same level of popularity for the iPhone and Android smartphone market that it has enjoyed to be the case, the company responded with “no.” However, the company did acknowledge that it is working on improving the user experience on existing devices, and is exploring ways to make the realme x50 more user friendly.

It seems that the realme x50 is one of the first handsets from the company to utilize Apple’s A8 mobile processor. The chipset is significantly smaller than the A8 used in the iPhone and Android devices, which means that it is capable of running many more programs and utilizing a higher amount of RAM. The increase in RAM might mean that apps will run a lot faster and in turn create a better user experience. This might also mean that the device will be able to run much better apps, though there are no guarantees. Regardless, the move to an A8 processor by Apple is a positive one for the company.

The display on the realme x50 is also just as thin as some of the screens currently available on the Android and iPhone market. At almost one inch, it is much thinner than devices like the HTC Desire and the Asus ZenFone. In addition, the pixel density of the screen is significantly higher than what is available on competing devices. Therefore, the phone does not have the same viewing experience as the others. It is possible that the company will add a second screen to the handset in the future, but for now it will have to suffice.
